Klasien van de Zandschulp is an interactive artist and designer. After working over 10 years as an interaction and UX designer at design agencies, technology labs and startups Klasien founded an independent studio in interactive art and design, based in Amsterdam.
Klasien designs story-based and multi-sensory experiences, often blending on- and offline social interactions and encounters. Her work involves mobile and augmented reality experiences as well as interactive installations. She also works as a curator and initiator of interactive events, labs and exhibitions. She recently won the IDFA Doclab Immersive Non-Fiction award.
She presents and exhibits her work internationally at conferences, festivals and labs, such as:
SXSW (Austin), Interaction.19 (Seattle), Future of Storytelling Summit and festival (NYC), Northside festival, FORMS festival (Toronto), MUTEK VR salon (Montréal), Path festival (Sao Paolo), IDFA Doclab, MozFest, Design Indaba (Cape Town), The New Institute, Augmented World Expo, STRP, Dutch Filmfestival (NFF), MuseumNext, ToDaysArt, Prix Europe.
Klasien often teaches as guest lecturer at design and art academies and universities in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
She was jury member of the IDFA Doclab Immersive Non-Fiction award 2017 and Netherlands Film festival Gouden Kalf Interactive in 2018, and is coach member at VAF Interactive (Flemish Audiovisual Fund). Klasien is a key collaborator of design studio LAVA.
